First launched in 2015, The Macallan Archival Series is one of the most sought-after whiskies at present. The meteoric rise in the past 12 months alone has been somewhat of a shock to the whisky collecting fraternity, as values double and quadruple across the board. In total, the series will eventually have 24 individual releases, all commemorating Macallan’s legendary advertising campaigns of the 1970s, 80s and 90s.
The yester-year style, anecdotal advertising prints used by Macallan through the Archival Series are considered the launchpad, taking the distillery and their whiskies to a much more wider audience. Sir John Hegarty, co-founder of Global Advertising Agency, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, said of the campaigns that they where ‘witty, smart, idiosyncratic and above all memorable.’
It’s hard to believe that we have only just seen one quarter of the complete run of 'The Archival Series' so far. If Folio 1 to 6 is anything to go by, then we have much to look forward to!
