From one of the world's most-revered American distilleries, Buffalo Trace sees their oldest release of their popular Eagle Rare swoop into our September auction.

Double the age of the common 10 Year Old bottling, the Double Eagle Very Rare carries greater significance within its title. Not only is the bourbon twice the age of its staple release, it also proudly boasts two crystal eagles. One can be found nestled into the bottom of the glass bottle, whilst the other hand-blown eagle sits neatly perched within the packaging as a stopper.

With only 299 of these decanters ever produced, this is one of the most interesting bourbon's we've ever seen and why it deserves to be under this month's whisky blog spotlight. Appropriately, the decanter is illuminated under a built-in spotlight of its own, within the display case. A very fitting tribute to a bottle thoughtfully showcased after 2 years of planning went into the packaging alone.

However, looks aren’t everything. This limited 20 Year Old bourbon tastes every year of its age - toasted oak, soft caramel notes and a balanced finish with hints of vanilla. A truly unique decanter like nothing we’ve seen before and a flavour like something you’ve never tasted before.

This lot sold September 2019 for £8,900.00
