About the distillery

Royal Lochnagar distillery is based on the Abergeldie Estate in Royal Deeside, Scotland, close to the mountain Lochnagar.

The first Lochnagar distillery was burnt down in suspicious circumstances in 1824 and a replacement again burnt down in 1841. In 1845 John Begg built the "new" Lochnagar. The distillery was awarded its Royal Warrant in 1848 when John Begg invited Prince Albert to visit the distillery from the nearby Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s residence in the Highlands. The next day the distillery was visited by Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and their children.

Today Royal Lochnagar is owned by Diageo, and the distillery produces a relatively small amount of whisky, most of which is used in Johnnie Walker black and blue label.

The Royal Lochnagar 'House of Baratheon' is one of 8 limited edition bottling's in the Diageo collection of Game of Thrones malts.

House Baratheon - After leading the rebellion against the Targaryen dynasty, Robert Baratheon took his seat upon the Iron Throne to rule over the Seven Kingdoms. The Baratheon stag flew on banners above the Stormlands and King's Landing and golden antlered crowns signified absolute power. Over time, the Baratheon lords proved to be better warriors than rulers, and their house now lays in ruins.

Please note: There is an occasional issue with the outer packaging of the Game Of Thrones bottles, whereby the top/bottom may have minor indents due to movement of the bottle during distribution.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against leakage in transit.

It is not uncommon for bottles to contain sediment, either in the form of naturally occurring lipids that precipitate out of the whisky at low temperatures or in the form of cask related sediment. This is particularly prevalent in older bottlings. Neither naturally occurring lipids or cask related sediment would affect the taste if consumed and it is not considered a fault.
