Fettercairn is owned by Whyte & Mackay Distillers.

Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Fettercairn single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 1989.

Originally filled with Fettercairn spirit on 31st May 1989 the whisky has since been maturing in a refill customer hogshead (cask number 1366) which is currently held in bond at the Ben Nevis distillery.

The cask was regauged on 27th February 2019 summarising the following:

 - Original bulk 242 litres | Original strength 63.5% ABV | 154 litres of alcohol

 - New bulk 129.8 litres | New strength 52.1% ABV | 68 litres of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 185 x 70cl bottles of 30 Year Old Fettercairn whisky.

Light gold.

Soft, sweet and meadow florals on the nose.  A little honey on a pear base, with reminders of demorara sugar. Baked apples with fresh ginger develop later.

Oak and spice to the fore, with the spice increasing on the tongue.  Hints of liquorice and faint peat.  Surprisingly light oak for such an old whisky and an interesting trending of floral toffee that descends into a ginger finish.

Medium light, but with a strong presence.

Dries quickly in the mouth, oaked but with a delicious long lingering spice and liquorice finish.

Please note the sample is shown for confirmation of the colour only and is not included in the sale.
