About the distillery
Glendronach distillery is a Scottish whisky distillery located near Forgue, by Huntly, Aberdeenshire, in the Highland whisky district. In April 2016 Glendronach Distillery was purchased by the Brown-Forman Corporation. The deal included BenRiach and Glenglassaugh distilleries.
The distillery draws its water from the Dronac burn within the distillery grounds. It has its own floor maltings and two wash stills in addition to two spirit stills.
One of Glendronach's most sought after range, and becoming very rare, this 40 year old whisky was distilled in February 1971 and matured in a Pedro Ximinez Sherry Puncheon before being bottled from the single cask (# 1436) in July 2011.
The cask produced only 583 bottles, of which this is bottle number 169.
