This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Tobermory single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 1995. 

Originally filled with Tobermory spirit on 17th July 1995 the whisky has since been maturing in a hogshead (cask number 1065) which is currently held in bond at Still Spirit Warehouse.

The cask was regauged on 6th May 2024 summarising the following:

 - Original bulk 220 litres | Original Strength 60% | 130 litres of alcohol

 - New bulk 142.2 litres | New strength 46.9% ABV | 66.7 litres of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 203 x 70cl bottles of 28 Year Old Tobermory whisky.

UNOFFICIAL TASTING NOTES:

COLOUR:
Light gold with a tinge of pink

 
NOSE:
Very sweet on the nose with just a hint of orange and Madeira cake.  There is an underscore of ‘green’ from melon tossed in fresh herbs that is really endearing and unexpected.  There is vanilla from the cask, and it helps to bolster the initial sweetness, whilst also in check from the ‘green’.

PALATE:
Lives up to the promise of the bouquet.  Very pleasant and unusual ‘fizz’ on the palette, that keeps any over sweetness at bay.  There are herbal notes with a very dry white wine mouthfeel along with a slight minerality.  A lovely expression from Tobermory that really showcases their strong points.

BODY:
Medium to long from the oaky spiciness.

FINISH:
Remarkable malt that dries softly to a chalky powder but keeping its piquancy.

IMPORTANT: 

 - Annual storage fees will become payable by the buyer.  - Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Hammer. Funds will be held by Whisky Hammer until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction. 

 - Ownership of this cask is auctioned in bond.  The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling.

 - Non-UK buyers must appoint a duty representative to act on his/her behalf for transfer of ownership of the cask. Still Spirit can act as duty representative for casks stored at their warehouse if required. 

 - Please note if the new owner is a UK revenue trader (business or private individual connected to the trade), they will need to be registered with HMRC and hold a WOWGR certificate.

All regauges performed by Still Spirit Ltd are purely estimates of the Bulk (L) and ABV of the spirit and a tolerance of at least +/- 5% of Bulk should be expected. Actual results can only be confirmed upon bottling. Still Spirit Ltd will not be held liable for any variance from regauge data provided to actual results on bottling.
