Other Information

This lot offers the fantastic opportunity to own one cask of Speyside single malt scotch whisky, distilled in 1996.

Originally filled with Speyside spirit on 25th March 1996 the whisky has since been maturing in a Sherry Butt (#0033/961890) which is currently held in bond at Inverhouse Distillers.

The cask was re-gauged in February 2022, summarising the following:

 - New bulk 372 litres | New strength 65.1% ABV | 242.8 litres of alcohol

This would currently yield approximately 532 x 70cl bottles of 26 Year Old cask strength Speyside whisky.

Please note:

1) the cask photo shown is for display purposes only and is not the actual cask being sold.

2) the sample is shown for confirmation of the colour only and is not included in the sale.

Unofficial tasting notes:

COLOUR:
Pale golden yellow.

NOSE:
Sticky and sweet on the nose with toffee apples and a hint of pears.  Sherry notes that are gentle with a hint of strong Darjeeling tea with a dusting of meadow flowers.

PALATE:
Full on strength that surprises after the gentleness of the nose.  It is dry and spicy and pinches your cheeks!  Underneath is ginger, cloves and sherry that mellows the strength and power of the initial astringency.  The orchard fruits return with the pear taking centre stage with buttery undertones, some vanilla, and a bit of oak.

BODY:
Full mouthfeel coats the tongue and mouth, as you would expect at this heady ABV.

FINISH:
A long finish of spiced pear and toffee, that mellows down to congenial warmth.

IMPORTANT:

 - Annual storage fees and any cask transfer admin fees will become payable by the buyer.

 - Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Whisky Hammer.  Funds will be held by Whisky Hammer until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction.
