A Timeless Masterpiece: The Singleton of Dufftown 1964 Paragon of Time Collection
A piece of history, a true paragon of time.
The Singleton of Dufftown distillery, nestled in the heart of Speyside, Scotland, boasts a rich history dating back to its founding in 1895. Originally known as the Dufftown-Glenlivet Distillery and established by the blending firm Mackenzie & Co., the distillery has seen numerous changes in ownership and renovations over the years, reflecting its enduring legacy in the whisky industry. Among its many remarkable releases, few capture the imagination quite like The Singleton of Dufftown 1964. This extraordinary 53-year-old single malt, part of the Paragon of Time Collection, stands as a testament to the art of maturation and the passage of time.
Laid down in 1964, this single malt has spent over five decades maturing in a single hogshead cask. The whisky is presented in a stunning crystal decanter, housed in a wooden presentation case that incorporates a piece of the original cask, adding a touch of history to its elegant packaging.
The Singleton of Dufftown 1964 is a sensory delight. On the nose, it offers a bouquet of floral notes, rose water, and a medley of tropical and berry fruits. The palate is equally enchanting, with flavours of dried figs and a hint of toffee, culminating in a sweet, elegant finish with a subtle smoky, ginger spice aftertaste.
This limited edition release is incredibly rare, with only 117 decanters available. Each bottle comes with a signed certificate of ownership from Maureen Robinson, The Singleton’s Master of Malts, who has described this whisky as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. She notes that despite its age, the distillery character has shone through, defying the overpowering influence of the cask.
The Singleton of Dufftown 1964 is not just a whisky; it is a piece of history, a true paragon of time.
